China has moderately large bauxite reserves spread over Guizhou, Shanxi, Henan, Guangxi and Yunnan provinces which together amount to 3 billion tonnes while global bauxite resources are estimated to be of the order of 55 to 75 billion tonnes. Australia, China, Brazil, Guinea, India and Jamaica are the leading countries in bauxite production. Remarkably, these countries contribute greately to 87% to world bauxite production, the three countries – Australia, China and Brazil together contribute 69% in world production. However, the overall level of China’s bauxite resources endowment is not high. As an important raw material of aluminia industry low Al-Si ratio in bauxite is a bottleneck which restricts to the development of alumina industry in China. Bauxite ores in China are mostly diasporic containing limonite, halloysite, illite, pyrophyllite, chlorite and other clay minerals, desliming tests of which are carried out to gain best conditions and controlling parameter for improving the quality of bauxite. For quite sometime now, China has perforce to import good quality bauxite for meeting its domestic needs.
China has witnessed an increase of over 47% in the consumnption of aluminium during the past 10 years while global demand is predicted to almost double by 2020. The consumption in Asian countries over the next 15-20 years expectedly will grow to equal that of the entire world. In order to maintain steady sources and normal alumina production, investors in China are looking for potential investment opportunities as the change in strict Indonesian export and environmental policies compelling China to rethink and search for new source.

Guizhou province is one of the major bases of bauxite resource in China; but some of them had a low grade. In this study, couple of tests for the bauxite desliming were carried out to gain the best conditions and controlling parameter. The industrial water in Guizhou province has moderate hard water and so sodium hexametaphosphate not only can eliminate the influence of calcium and magnesium ions, but also acted as dispersant. Sodium silicate had similar disperse effects to sodium hexametaphosphate, and their dosage was similar too. In continuous operation, the hydraulic desliming equipment worked normally and reliably. When treating low grade bauxite with an Al-Si ratio of 4.71, bauxite concentrate with an Al-Si ratio of 6.78 and Al2O3 recovery of 85.14% can be obtained by the equipment.

The geological disaster in Guizhou is serious, especially the debris flow, brings many hidden dangers to the mine construction. In this study, we set up the three dimensional numerical model of dam break, changing the viscosity coefficient, yield stress and height of dam break to study the impact of every factor on debris flow. Set different forms of landslide and diversion dam, studied the impact of dam on characteristics of debris flow, and obtained the optimal location and angel of landslide and diversion dam.

Bauxite resources are abundant in Central Guizhou. Through systematically analyzing the sedimentary records of bauxite-bearing rock series, this paper reveals the paleogeography environment of this region, and explores the ore-control significance of favourable zone. The research shows that the ore-bearing rock series of bauxite in Central Guizhou is the continental deposition based on karst landform. Surrounding the paleo-land, the diluvial fandiluvial uvala sedimentary system is developed in the eastern Xiuwen region and the diluvial fan-diluvial-control fan delta-diluvial-control lake sedimentary system is developed in the western Qingzhen region. Diluvial-fan channel sediments and diluvial-control-fan delta front sediments are the most favourable facies belt for bauxite occurrence. Moreover, serious dissolution areas in the diluvial uvala can also become the favourable aggregation sites for bauxite by rapid accumulation effect.

More than 20 laterite bauxite deposits have been discovered in the Wuchuan-Zheng’an-Daozhen region, northern Guizhou province, which is important bauxite orefield of China. Based on the reflectance spectra characteristics and low SiO2 content of bauxite ore, this paper applied the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) imagery to produce large-middle scale remote sensing geological interpretation, map the orebearing stratum, extract metallogenic zones for bauxite deposits by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and SiO2 index. These results provide clues for future investigation of bauxite resources in this study area and an effective case reference for the remote sensing geological survey of bauxite.

Through the development of 20 years, the 3D-modelling has already become mature. It is used now, more and more popularly in the modelling of the complicated process of modern mine. In this study, its three dimensional numerical model for seismic response analysis is set up based on the ABAQUS and the results show the liquefied region of tailings pond first appears in the saturation region of sedimentary area, then develops towards the saturation region inside dry beach,and the location of the liquefied region is directly related to the 3D terrain of the tailing dam, which shows the necessity of the 3D dynamic analysis of the tailing with complex terrain.

Using dynamic planning method to construct the model for multi-mine and multi-product, this research tries to establish a new normal bauxite mine industry and upgrade the scientific production decision of bauxite industry. The optimal results, based on 6 bauxite deposits, show that after optimization, the inventory costs of 6 bauxite mines in 2016 have been reduced. Meanwhile, the optimal production decision suggests that, in the current new normal, bauxite enterprises should realize that this decision of expanding individual mine production to reduce the unit cost of bauxite may be unable to get the maximum profit as a whole.

Guizhou has a rich bauxite resources, including a part reserves of poor bauxite. Based on a series of the past positive flotation and reverse flotation condition test, we found the reverse flotations are better to improve aluminasilica ratio. In this study, we collected the fresh ore samples in several mining areas in Central Guizhou. And bauxite sintering dissolution tests show that Al2O3 dissolution rate is high after the bauxite ingredients sintering, 1# sample and 2# sample dissolution rates are much higher than the flotation recoveries, and because aluminum silicon ratio of 2# sample is a little higher, the dissolution rate can reach 75.64%. The test results show that positive flotation is not fit for poor bauxite, reverse flotation process can obtain a certain effect, and the sintering aluminum process can fully recycle the useful minerals.
